No audio on 11.2 (AC'97 / LXDE)

http://forums.opensuse.org – Hi I'm a complete newbie to suse and linux, but am enjoying the journey so far :) After a little thrashing around in the dark, I've managed to get my machine to boot directly into LXDE (which has sped up my old packard bell a lot!) and configured my wireless USB (which I had been advised was a major headache in linux!) and am feeling quite proud as a result. Have however been unable to produce any sound at all so far. The /usr/sbin/alsa-info.sh command gave me the following url: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=f0...d5b2a1a5f3047a Am using LXDE on opensuse 11.2, and the audio controller is AC'97 (on quite an old laptop). Any advice and solutions on this would be very very much appreciated :) (Distributions)

Hi, After one of the latest kernel update to opensuse 11.1 64 bit, I've started to have capture sound problem with builtin microphone of my laptop. It continues with latest opensuse 11.2 64 bit. I've volume up everything from mixer, yast's sound option, configure desktop's multimedia options, but nothing works.

Hi, I run Ubuntu 12.04 and have Lenovo G780 laptop. When I plug headphones to jack the sound mutes but you can't hear anthing from the headphones, I tried different headphones.

F12 sound not working 3 years 24 weeks ago

I did a fresh install of F12 and the sound is not working, on same PC with F10 and F11 the sound was perfectly working. I tried alsa-info.sh as suggested in another thread and this is the result: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=83...7a34e85bc77e76

Sound conflicts with wireless 3 years 23 weeks ago

Right now I either can have wireless or sound. When I get sound I lose my wireless which may be due to some kernel issue. I use the madwifi, madwifi-kmp-default, madwifi-kmp-pae, & compat-wireless-kmp-pae for my athero ar 9285. This gets my wireless going.

Hello. I am running openSUSE 11.3 KDE x64. I have installed codecs per this guide. I have also installed VLC 1.1.0 from the Packman repository.

opening a ram stream with RealPlayer, gives the following:

ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1010: (snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave,

and no sound, on 99/100 connections.

Has anybody the same problem? What can I do to solve it?
