Hi guys
I am trying to share files without samba, at work all i do is right click on file select share and it does everything and at home have same layout except at home i cant share files, when i right click on a file at home i have (Basic, Emblems, Permissions and Notes)
also when i go to system -- > Administration i dont see share files options either.
I've searched for an answer for a couple weeks. I have two identical computers, both running Kubuntu 9.10, sharing a broadband internet connection through a router, to which they are both wired. They both also have wireless capability. But I can't get them to communicate with one another.
This brief tutorial will show you how to easily enable file sharing between Windows XP and Fedora 14, codename Laughlin. When you enable file sharing between the two systems, both machines will be able to view and access shares from each other.
I just tried sharing the old My Videos file folder on my 500GB Windows drive and it shows that it's shared but when I try to access it over the network it's saying I don't have permission. I checked the box to allow guests access. Still no sharing. How do I accomplish this?
In my Home Folder it shows as 500GB device with the eject symbol next to it.
So I have ubuntu 11.10 desktop 64bit installed.
Once I boot in i browse to a folder (on a mdadm array) i want to share on the network (to other windows and linux machines)
i right click the folder and go to file sharing and select Share this folder, and alow others etc and allow guest
and it works perfect, until I reboot and it loses all the settings.
Does anyone know why this is happening?
So I've been searching around for network file sharing help, but I feel like I'm only getting bits and pieces of an answer but not the whole thing. I am simply trying to share files between my Windows 7 laptop over to my Crunchy PC, but my ineptitude is getting in the way. :PHere's what I've done so far:1.
Having moved quite large amount of data (~1TB) over the network from one storage to another, I noticed the file on target system differs from the original.
Setup:
PC (Windows 7 64) with Windows Sharing -> 1000BaseT network 2x 1G switch -> PC (Windows XP) as Windows Sharing client
or
NAS with Windows Sharing (probably Samba?) -> 1000BaseT network 1x 1G switch -> PC (Windows 7 64) as Windows Sharin
