(New)WLAN-PCI card not working correctly

http://askubuntu.com – I have a problem tied to my new WLAN-PCI card. After I installed it (the card) in my machine, I booted up Ubuntu 12.10 and at first was amazed that it was detected immediately, as the icon in the top right was indicating that new networks have been found. However, the problem arose when I logged in to Ubuntu. The top right icon turned into the one which indicates that no Ethernet cable is plugged in. When I click on it, and I assume that's the Network Manager, it doesn't show me any wireless networks. When I enter iwconfig or ifconfig in the console both commands show me that I have an inter (HowTos)
