New User- Somethings Wrong!

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I may be a new user, but I can tell when somethings wrong. Bear with me people, because this is complicated. So I installed fedora using the CD from the book "LINUX for dummies". I shou'd have known that because it came from a used book store, it wouldn't be the newest version. It was actually what seems like the oldest. Fedora Core 5. Well anyway I thought that I could deal with it, but I quickly realized that I was going to need a newer version. My first problem is that with this old version of fedora, I got an old version of firefox. The most logical thing to do was to install Firefox 3.5. But I didn't know how. This was really frustrating for me, because being a prvious windows user I was used to just clicking on a link and having everything else done for me. I could get used to the coding, it wasn't that hard, the only thing is that I had a lot of problems. When I downloaded firefox, this is exactly what i did. Opened the terminal typed su typed in the password typed in yum- install firefox got the output of Loading "installonlyn" plugin Setting up Install Process Setting up repositories core [1/3] Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: core Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: core I reaserched the problem, and a common solution was to comment out the baseurl. I found the files, I opened them, and I deleted the # in front of the text. When I tried to save however it said that I didn't have access, even though I thought i was signed in as root. I decided that the old version had to do with all my problems. So I went to the fedora website and downloaded the DVD ISO. From what I understand, i download that, and then I put it on a CD. (or does it have to be a DVD? Is there anyway I can use a CD??) Then I put the CD in when I reboot and everything should go swell and lovely and all my problems should be solved!! Unless I do something wrong. :( Oh gosh, this is difficult. Can someone please explain to me EVERTHING that I could possibly need to know about getting fedora core 12? I'm talking about the "For dummies" kind of instructions. What kind of CD/DVD I need. What to do when the file finishes downloading. What to do after I burn the CD. What to do before I reboot abd put the CD in the computer. Please please help!!! (HowTos)
