I have a laptop which is connected to my usb hard drive. I backed up some files to it and upon a regular reboot it is now inaccessible. I have Ubuntu and LMDE (Mint 11) installed on my laptop and both were able to access it. The following is information I am including to help someone to help me.

bit of a n00b here just need a little help trying to identify if I am doing something incorrectly when mounting a USB external drive formatted in XFS.

I am typing:

sudo mount -t xfs /dev/sdb1 /media/external

And I get the following error:
