New HP dm4 - No audio on ubuntu 11.10 64bits

http://askubuntu.com – I just got a new laptop, HP dm4, and I'm having problems getting the audio to work properly on it. aplay -l lists: play -l ** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ** card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: STAC92xx Analog [STAC92xx Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 I tried to edit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and added: option snd-hda-intel model=ref this caused the audio to work, but it's muffled. I'm wondering if anybody knows what would be the correct options to get th (HowTos)

I upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10 and after this I have no audio devices in the audio settings panel, but other parts of the system indicate that I do still have audio devices.

Now, my SOUND does not work! I get the bongo sounds when the login screen comes up, and it works fine in Windows Vista, but not in 12.04. ](*,)

When I type:alsamixer It shows nothing is muted. It's set to 100% (high).

I have installed Ubuntu 9.04 on my Lenovo Y530 in a separate partition along with Vista.

Now the problem is that there is no sound if I am using Ubuntu, Vista is fine. I checked many websites but no solution helped.
