I've got a laptop which I use two wireless adapters with. With one of them, I'd like NetworkManager to manage and automatically connect me to wireless networks when they're available. The other, I want NetworkManager to leave alone, letting me hack on it with iwconfig and whatnot.
The libvirt-bin daemon libvirtd creates virtual bridge(s) and interface(s) for the virtual machines it controls. NetworkManager kills these connections. I know that it is possible to uninstall or disable NetworkManager, but I wish to use it to manage the real interfaces on my system.
Hi there,
I am new ubuntu user. I have tried to configure wireless usb adapter on my 9.10 desktop. Adapter did worked fine, but I have problems with wired connection now:
I can ping my router. Skype works fine (don`t need DNS), internet on virtual machine (winXP) works too.
THis is CAT of interfaces:
What is the correct way of configuring virtual LAN interfaces (hopefully without messing up Network Manager) on Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop?
Simply adding the interface to /etc/network/interfaces seems to cause Network Manager some confusion:
auto vlan500
iface vlan500 inet static
...
...
vlan_raw_device eth1
Is there a better way of doing it?
update:
I updated /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.c
I am running a version of RHCE6 on my laptop, and lately I've been trying various stuff about network configuration through command line. Last night, I tried removing the NetworkManager using "yum remove NetworkManager" from the system, so that I could have more control of the network through the command line.
I am a complete Linux beginner and I managed to install Archlinux today. But I have no access to my wifi for some reason.
I get internet access in my terminal with wifi-menu but gnome tells me that it can not connect to my wireless network. The password is 100% correct.
After upgrading to F18, connection to wireless network with hidden SSID fails.
hi!
I have a Samsung N150 Netbook with a Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter.I ran both wicd and networkmanager. wicd can't connect at all, networkmanager can, but the connectiondies after like 10 seconds.I have another Laptop running Ubuntu, which uses networkmanager, which just works, and i recently hadan Android, which also worked just fine.
