http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I am trying to get Arduino up and running ,Its an avr programming IDE which connects to the board through USB and a FTDI chip. Fedora 11 NetworkManager gives the following [root@localhost tytower]# sudo tailf /var/log/messages Nov 5 12:18:29 localhost kernel: usb 3-1: New USB device found, idVendor=0403, idProduct=6001 Nov 5 12:18:29 localhost kernel: usb 3-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 Nov 5 12:18:29 localhost kernel: usb 3-1: Product: FT232R USB UART Nov 5 12:18:29 localhost kernel: usb 3-1: Manufacturer: FTDI Nov 5 12:18:29 localhost kernel: usb 3-1: SerialNumber: A6008eUZ Nov 5 12:18:29 localhost kernel: usb 3-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice Nov 5 12:18:29 localhost kernel: ftdi_sio 3-1:1.0: FTDI USB Serial Device converter detected Nov 5 12:18:29 localhost kernel: usb 3-1: Detected FT232RL Nov 5 12:18:29 localhost kernel: usb 3-1: FTDI USB Serial Device converter now attached to ttyUSB0 Nov 5 12:18:29 localhost NetworkManager: <info> (ttyUSB0): ignoring due to lack of mobile broadband capabilties The device is not a modem it is a FTDI serial chip and the drivers are supposed to be included in the kernel. The following command is also revealing [root@localhost dev]# dmesg | grep tty console [tty0] enabled serial8250: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A serial8250: ttyS1 at I/O 0x2f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A 00:0a: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A 00:0b: ttyS1 at I/O 0x2f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A usb 5-2: FTDI USB Serial Device converter now attached to ttyUSB0 The serial port is not recognised by Arduino-the port is greyed out in the application Can anybody suggest a fix please ?
