I have a Fedora machine which isn't normally on the network, but has been on the network before. I tried for several hours to connect to my cable modem and turn on networking, but failed. I know the modem and cable is okay because it works with a different machine.
Hi all,
I'm still trying to get networking on my Fedora machine. When I run 'system-config-network' as root, it lists an entry for 'eth0'.
I have very little understanding (ok no technical ability so be gentle)
Ubuntu 10.10 connects to a DSL modem without any problems - I mean I just plugged it in and it worked - GREAT
I bought a wireless router so I could connect my netbook and now my Ubuntu machine which is simply using a cable from the wireless router now DOES NOT connect.
I tried a windows machine on the wired connection from
Home Net Topology
ISP/WAN > Modem > Router (linksys) >Router(CISCO 851W) > (serial cable) 2008 R2
I have the loopback cable connected from my server to the CISCO router. The router is connected to the router in the office with a crossover cable. It is connected to Lan port 4 (Linksys) and the cable is plugged in to the WAN port(CISCO).
Hi all,
Hi all.
Today, I came across the following usage scenario ::
1)
One router, serving internet, through wifi and wires.
2)
First machine, running Fedora-17, that was connected to internet, through its wifi interface.
Hi,
I am trying to set up a small home network. There are two machines, t61 (192.168.10.100) and quad (192.168.10.101), both running SuSE 11. They are connected to a router (Trendnet TEW-639GR, if it matters), which in turn is connected to a cable modem. I modified the /etc/hosts on each, to have the other's name & IP address. Now:
I currently have an Airport Extreme connected directly to my cable modem but have been wondering if I should actually connect direct to my proxy server first. The reason I am asking is because I run multiple web servers for web hosting and I have a proxy server setup that directs traffic to the appropriate computer based on domain names.
I have such network layout: internet comes true fiber optics to modem. From modem LAN cable goes to router. Since that router wifi signal is weak LAN cable goes to another router from which I connect true wifi.
TL;DR - Modem > router > router with wifi > me.
Browser connects just fine.
