I originally configured my desktop lucid lynx system to boot on our wireless network. Later I added a 100 Mbps powerline/100baseT adapter set. The system still boots to the wireless network and ignores the wired network.
I just installed xubuntu (8.04) onto an old Sony vaio laptop and am a complete Linux newbie. After playing around, it seems to be running well, except it is not detecting my wired Ethernet connection correctly.
I installed 12.4 LTS on a Dell D520 with Broadcom 1390. No network connection, wired or wireless is recognized. No network is displayed for wired or wireless in network connection box. Both wired and wireless network connections worked under Windows XP before Ubuntu install. I verified ethernet cable connection with another computer. Did not do dual install - replaced XP.
I'm not sure what others think of this, but I am now finding the #! wiki very difficuly to navigate. It is wonderful that someone has diligently translated many of ther entries to Spanish but the Spanish entries and the English entries have, in many cases, the same title and even when they don't, they can be easily confused.
