I moved from windows and I dont know how to disable devices on my laptop.
For example I have two wireless cards, one integrated and one USB, i dont use integrated one so I would like to disable it, but I cant find that enywhere.
My Fedora 17 laptop has a built-in Wireless PCIe card (RT3090), which is malfunctional.
I have a USB Wireless adapter that I use instead, and want to deactivate the PCIe.
On Windows, I could use the hardware switch to disable the inbuilt card, but this also disabled Bluetooth.
On Fedora, it seems to disable all the wireless hardware - my USB adapters (x3), the PCIe and the BT.
I have been using Fedora for about two years. I love it except one thing: I can not get used to SELinux. SELinux in Fedora evolves rapidly and it is not uncommon that an updated SELinux breaks up other things. So here is my question: is it really useful for a desktop which doesn't have a whole bunches of services running except OpenSSH? I am deciding whether to disable SELinux for good.
I still have this lingering problem and cannot use SELinux I recently installed Fedora 18, however I cannot see the SELinux icon on the application desktop so therefore I cannot make all the adjustments I want.
There is also no icon for the SELinux manager Icons so I can turn on certain Security Measures or disable them.
Would appreciate any help
Many Thanks
Charlie
I tried to boot from a Fedora 12 installation DVD. My machine configuration is:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4
Display Card: X300 PCI-E 128MB
After the "Welcome to Fedora 12!" screen, I then click on either:
Install or upgrade an existing system
[or]
Install system with basic video driver

HEllo all,
In fedora 17, the battery time is becoming very low(1 hr) ,in windows it is 2.5 hrs. Also the exhaust fan will be always running .Some told me that fedora uses both the graphic cards , so disable one to reduce load. How to disable or uninsatll a graphic card (possibly nvidia) .My laptop is DELL XPS L502X.
Also plz suggest how to improve battery life and reduce heat.

I've posted before in other threads on this subject. Reading other threads, there is obviously a problem with the detection of touchpads, seemingly both ALPS and Synaptic.
I'm running an Acer Aspire 5738z and I'm really more than a little pi55ed at not being able to turn on " Disable while typing". I've got a fresh install of 9.10
