Well I don't watch Netflix myself, but there seems to be considerable interests here I just want to share this with you. Netflix is going to dump Silverlight and move to HTML5.

The bad news is that
"Netflix will use HTML5 technologies incorporating some EME (Encrypted Media Extensions) for playback of secure data transmission.
OK while it is unofficial and basically a specialized WINE box.... a needless silverlight update has broken the netflix application in the software center... I click install update and right click run from the FF DL list but of cource it still wants me to update....
Is there a way to actualy add this Siverlight update to the netflix app bottle properly....
Has anybody found a workaround to watch Netflix on Ubuntu other than running Windows XP through VirtualBox? At this point my girlfriends fascination with Netflix is the only reason I still use windows for anything.
Netflix now supports Chrome OS 13 or higher, and Mac OS 10.4.11 or later. I have tried Moonlight without success.
A quick note, the wine program is installed to ~/.netflix-desktop. If you have any syncing programs like unison, don't let it sync between computers otherwise you will get a DRM error in Silverlight.

Here’s are words I never thought I’d write: Netflix works on Linux. Not officially, of course: Instead, it relies on sophisticated hacks to the Wine compatibility layer.
^ No idea. From what I've read, Netflix won't even run on a Chromebook which has had its bootloader unlocked. Also, I'm not sure what kind of display server Chrome OS employs. Seeing that Cr OS is using the Cinnamon DE, I assume it's using X. I'm guessing your only option for Netflix on Cr OS will be via the included Wine Windows Emo Ware.
‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even those in the lighthearted holiday fare you were planning to watch on Netflix, which has been down since 1pm PST for some customers.
Netflix is known for its Simian Army, which it lets loose to test its service every once in a while. The cloud calls for strict availability and reliability, and the only way to ensure this is through stringent testing. Netflix has an amusing nomenclature for its testing strategy. It likes to group its cloud testing tools into a simian army.
