http://forums.fedoraforum.org – hello all. I been in the linux world about a whole week now. I have dual booted my laptop with xp and unbuntu 9.04. Everything is great but I would like to delete ubuntu and give fedora a try. I wish to keep windows xp for now. If I use windows to delete ubuntu partions, soon as I reboot grub will be gone and I will not be able to get to xp. I thinking if I boot to fedora live dvd, wipe out ubuntu partitions, re-create partitions in the exact same space, install fedora and then reboot I will be fine. Am I right here or not. Will fedora reinstall grub, lilo or whatever to the mbr and when I reboot I will get a menu that allows me to choose which os I want to boot just as I am currently doing. Loosing windows is not an option just yet. Sorry for the beginner type question but books tell me no detail and google did not return and exact scenario for my situation. thank you (HowTos)

I have been trying to set up a dual boot ubuntu for a couple of days with no luck.

With a clean machine, installing Windows 7 and then Ubuntu 11.10, on reboot, I do not get a grub menu, instead it goes straight into Windows.

I’ve been wanting to install Fedora 12 but I have a couple of questions and some concerns. I was reading the sticky note regarding installing from the live cd and partitions setup. I’m already running a dual boot with XP and Debian 5.03 with the Grub boot loader installed, setup as XP on (hd0,0) and Debian on (hd1,0). I just want to get rid of Debian and install Fedora to that drive.

I had Fedora 15 on a computer, dual booted with Windows 7. I did a fresh install of Fedora 17, but in the process I seem to have wiped out its capability to boot Windows 7, which I'm pretty sure is still on the disk.

My plan is to install grub on the /boot partition of the new Fedora 17 and then fix the MBR to boot Windows and use Easy BCD under Windows to dual boot.

Installed Fedora 16 x86_64 LXDE a few months ago.

Before installation I resized my C:-partition from inside of Windows so I could get some free space to install Fedora on (so I would be able to dual-boot with Fedora and Windows Vista). The installation went fine and Fedora is usable and all BUT I am not able to boot Windows Vista anymore!

I just bought a new notebook which came with Windows 8 (+UEFI) which I will use to play some games, however, I want to have Fedora (18) linux available for some stuff.

Hi, I've been wanting to do this for a while (quite new to fedora and all)...

Basically because I share a PC with a family not so linux or even just computer literate I don't want to expose them to a dual-boot of Windows/Fedora..

So what I want to do is create a new partition on the PC, install fedora but leave the windows boot-loader untouched (not even showing Fedora) and then use either a
