I'm running openSUSE 11.2 x64 with a Geforce 7300GT video card and just recently I noticed that my taskbar (using KDE 4.3.1 here) is flickering like mad. I thought at first it was a mouse/USB-related problem but I narrowed it down to the compositing functionality in KWin. When I disable compositing the taskbar flicker goes away but returns immediately when I re-enable compositing.
This shows up in the System Settings tool, Displays. It shows the computer as being a Laptop and does not identify the monitor, nor does it allow you to make any changes. As well, when viewing the DETAILS/GRAPHICS it indicates that the Graphic Driver is Unknown. However, when using the Additional Drivers, it shows the proper driver for the video card (in my case, the Nvidia drivers) is installed.
I have an Nvidia GeForce GT 500 series card, and cannot install the video driver needed:
Additional drivers doesn't find any
Downloading and installing the driver from the Nvidia website doesn't work
CTRL+ALT+F1 gives an error ("no native mode, forcing panel scaling)
my monitor stays flickering
Hi can anybody help with my Video problem, I have activated dual screen monitors using the Nvidia driver GUI as Sax2 would not correctly configure it. Now at every boot I get the message "undefined video mode 31a, press [enter] for a list of video modes or [space] to continue. After pressing space the system boots to my liking, how can I get rid of the message at every boot up?
Hi,
I am having some weird display flickering when using window controls like maximizing/minimizing,scrolling down... I have tried changing refresh rate and screen resolution but that didnt help. I thought it was a Unity issue, but I get the same thing with Gnome. I have downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers for my video card.
System Specs:
Ubuntu 12.04, i7-3930K, 64 GB RAM, GTX 690
Any ideas?
Ok here is the deal. I have been running this video card fine on Vista and Windows 7 flawlessly. The reason I say this is so that you don't think the card is damaged or that the rest of my computer could not handle it.
I am trying to convert to ubuntu completely but my problems lies here, I install the os and the main monitor works fine, but the secondary monitor? blank.. is there any help with this?
I have a Nvidia gt525m card installed in my Dell Inspiron n5110 laptop.
After installing recommended drivers of my graphic card in Ubuntu 11.10 it happens nothing but that disables Unity3D effects and I started to hear the loud noise from the cooling system.
To solve the problem I used sudo nvidia-xconfig, after rebooting my computer shows some text lines instead of showing GUI.
What should I d
I've tried Ubuntu 11.10 awhile back and now I'm trying 12.04 LTS and with both of those version's I've had this screen flickering problem both in the live CD and the installed OS. I had an old Gateway GT5028 AMD 64 bit with Nvidia graphics laying around and installed Ubuntu. I've been around the web looking for a solution but can't seem to find anything that works.
