Need help creating an AdHoc WiFi network that routes its traffic through an SSH tunnel

I just bought a Raspberry Pi and I am wanting to route an ad hoc wireless network interface fully through an SSH tunnel that was created using another wireless interface. I want to do this so that I can have a secured and private connection to the internet at places with public WiFi.

I'm on Arch Linux running, linux-3.3.5-1 and the my Wireless card is the Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter. I'm trying to connect to a secured Wifi network at work using the GNOME network-manager.

I have a remote network (A) that is connected to a head office (B) through a private network. Network A only has 1 PC that requires the connection, and this is into a terminal server at network B.

We want to save money by getting rid of the private network as only 1 PC now access it and it seems silly to pay ~$400 per month for something that is accessed by 1 PC.

Then I turned on my computer after that. I tried connecting to the internet. My (and my neighbor's) wireless networks shown up, but no matter how many times I tried, I can't connect to my home network. I checked the password and the other laptop's internet works (a MacBookPro).

I am trying to create a wifi network based around my ubuntu laptop with my iphone 3g tethered to it by usb cable for an internet connection. I would like to be able to share this internet connection with other devices that connect to this network and and perform various other network functions between devices on this network such as smb file sharing and ssh.

I have a Huwaei modem (E1820 to be precise) that i use for my internet whims and fancies. But what I want to do is set up an adhoc wireless network so another device can connect to my network and in turn I want that device to be able connect to the internet through the network. I've managed to set it up relatively effortlessly on Win7 so the it is possible on my hardware.

Here's an interesting problem I've been having with Ubuntu 11.10 on my laptop. My wireless has absolutely no issues with connecting to public networks like hotel wifi and libraries.
