When trying to add the Webupd8 Rhythmbox PPA to my system through
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8/rhythmbox
the command seems to work fine. Then i apt-get update and upgrade, and it shows no upgrade to be found. When i run
sudo add-apt-repository -r ppa:webupd8/rhythmbox
right afterward, it tells me it does not exist in any sources.list files.
Does anybody know what is going on?

The Ubuntu sources.list generator, is a web application that can create custom sources.list files for various version of Ubuntu. The sources.list file tells the packaging system where it can look for software to install. The generator can add many additional sources, including those for proprietary software.
I want to upgrade to gnome 3.6 so I add a repository and try it but when I want to use

i am trying to update Ubuntu via terminal, but it gives the error message as bellow

my Ubuntu software center could be the problem?
I am about as green as they come, I recently updated to xubuntu 12.10 from an older suite. I followed instructions I found in other postings
$ cat -n /etc/apt/sources.list | grep 62
62 deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/jonabeck/ppa/xubuntu main
$ sudo gedit /etc/apt/source.list
the source list opened and the document was blank.
I managed to trash my sources.list and its backup file...
could someone please post theirs or point me to where I can find an official list so I can put everything back together please

Well I get a update notification and then this error appeared. So I go to the file and this is my 59 line (I think)
deb index of / lucid partner
But heres my sorce.list file. I have read some threads, but I don't find what they say is the error.
