I am not able to access my windows workgoup with Dolphin. I can however with Nautilus. I think everything is set up correctly since I am able to print from the printer on the Vista machine and I can access all the shared files with Nautilus. But when I try to with Dolphin it will only show me the workgroup under Samba Shares. When I click on the workgroup nothing happens.
I use Plasma Invirenment in Ubuntu 12.10. However I use Nautilus to view files. I have two problems with Nautilus:
1) It sometimes hides the Plasma Desktop. Because first run of Nautilus, opens a Desktop a default Folder View. (it's similar to Windows Explorer)
2) In Dolphin when an item is double clicked, an animation beside mouse pointer shows it will be opened soon.
Ok, I'm going more than a little nuts here...
Here's what's happening. I have one PC (morpheus) on which I've chosen to share a couple of folders in the home directory. The folders show the "Shared" icon in them and are chmod 777'd. I can access them by going to Dolphin -> Network -> Samba Shares -> Workgroup -> Morpheus -> Foldername ...

I have Samba share from a Ubuntu 10.04 machine which I seem to have no problems mounting in Windows XP running in VirtualBox.
However, when I try to mount it directly in Unity, whether using the nautilus smb://name command or by double-clicking on the icon in the network browser -- it always times out with "unable to mount location" "failed to retrieve share list from server"

Hi
I'm trying to figure out the simplest method to share files back and forth from one Linux machine running Ubuntu or Fedora17/KDE (Dual boot) to another running Fedora13 /Gnome2. I don't care about MS Windows file sharing, just being able to access files in the public directory of either Linux machine.
I have moderate Linux experience/knowledge, but with some gaps...
