Not seeking an answer here, just posting an observation. Visidon Applock and SmartCompass both utilize the camera. When both are running simultaneously they apparently butt heads and crash the phone.
As many have noticed Asus left the mount for a rear facing camera inside the nexus 7 even though they later took the camera out. My question is, what would it take to install a camera into that mount and get it to run? My guess is all it would take is the right camera and a connector that could be installed into the board beside the camera mount where the old connector was.
I am using a simple camera app, and obtain the live camera preview to a surfaceView. I turn the camerea on/off using a button.
Hi
I am a developer, but I never develop under Linux or the Kernel, however I have this question:
In order to make the camera works on ICS, why don't use the old drivers with the old camera software? That should work fine... and if you prefer to use the "new camera software" you can download ICS camera for android 2.2.
Thanks for your answer!

I can't post in the dev thread yet, but has anyone else had a problem with the camera function on this ROM? The camera has worked perfectly fine for about 3-4 weeks and all of a sudden it crashes every time I try to use the camera. Apps such as Instagram and Facebook also crash when trying to use the camera function also.
Hello fellow xda members,
Today I was flashing my i9000 from android 4.0.4 (team ICSSGS) To CM10. Camera was not working too well at the 4.0.4, (this was the main reason to flash to CM10.
After flashing CM10 it gave immediate "camera not responding" messages when opening the camera. So then i flashed back to android 2.3.5 XXJVT.
Everytime using this camera it crash my system and gets unblessing freez. But when use Windows it works.
Why Ubuntu it crash and freez? Its a USB camera logitech C920?
How can i solve this?

Problem is that:
This camera auto mount as random
/dev/video1 or video0 it creates.
I just built kernel 3.6.0-rc5 the other day and I'm very happy with its performance, particularly in terms of the open source Radeon drivers. it would be a shame to have to roll back, but on this kernel I lose my webcam functionality.
