I have a domain registered through namecheap.com, and I have 2 nameservers for my domain (ns1, ns2.domain.com). Both nameservers are being pointed to my VPS IP address. I can access my VPS fine through IP, but not my domain. I am using webmin 1.6, and have my master zone all setup. Here is the records file:
; domain.com
$TTL 3600
domain.com. IN SOA a.root-servers.net. email@msn.com.
I have: - two DNS servers: 1.1.1.1 and 2.2.2.2 - domain name: domain.com pointed to 1.1.1.1
I want to point sub domain: sub.domain.com to 2.2.2.2 (obviously www.sub.domain.com too)
on 1.1.1.1 I've create a DNS A record pointing sub.domain.com to 2.2.2.2
accessing sub.domain.com now lead to 2.2.2.2 successfully
the problem is the DNS records on 2.2.2.2 such as CNAME www do not work means access
Here's a quick summary of the environment I support: we have a domain (domain A) that has about 20 client computers. The domain server for this domain and all the clients sit within the network infrastructure of a larger domain (domain B). All the computers get their network settings via DHCP from domain B's servers.
I wonder if someone did the same, I create an image of a server, then I move it to another , and that other one will have a different domain, so, now I want to create and send mail with the new domain, still the other domain is the one who signs... I already changed the dovecot.cnf , postfix, apache and hosts file, but I cant find where is that domain comming from, any idea of where to look for?
I'm testing two mail servers that live on two (virtual) machines with made up domain names for emails.
I'm new to server management and wanted some advice on how to do it.
Here is what I did so far:
On the registrar of our domain name I setted the Rackspaces' nameservers (dns1.stabletransit.com & dns2.stabletransit.com)
On the server's Linux, I created a virtual host to link the domain name with the right folder (It works).
In the Rackspace admin interface, I added the new domain like this:
I have two domains that refuse to accept changes to the name server records. One domain has had this problem for 6 months and the other just did this today. I use DreamHost as my domain registrar and I am trying to set Hurricane Electric as my name server.
I have a 2nd-level domain we'd like to use for mapping to our internal services on a linux server of ours. The domain is registered via 1&1, and I'd like to have the domain set up such that ns1.ourdomain.com, ns2.ourdomain.com, etc.
This is a bit of a weird one. I'm running ubuntu on a Windows domain. If I type "ping server" I can ping correctly and I can connect without any problems. It looks up my search domain (domain.local) and everything is hunky dory.
Problem is when I try to ping server.domain.local.
