http://www.linuxquestions.org – Hello ~ All, Never install software unless you know exactly what it will DO!! Wise, but impracticable... I wanted to see what mythbuntu would do and explore its functionality.. BIG mistake...Now it has taken over my system - can't get my ubuntu 10.04 desktop back? Via my ISO, I can see my files, and recognize them...How can I get rid of mythbuntu and regain gnome? I can't copy home folder to external HD, response ... easy tag won't allow...im in sudo....permissions I assume? I might add....while in my ISO/CD, I think I'm running on C:HD...NOT my 2nd HD de (HowTos)

Hey all,

I have been a user of W7 MCE for quite a bit now, and I want to shift to Mythbuntu. I have Limited experience with the setup process. Mythbuntu is installed on my ,machine and I have read the Hauppague HVR 1600, wiki, but it is like another language to me. Does someone have am easy to understand method for setting up two HVR 1600 cards for Mythbuntu for a complete newbie like me?

I have been having some strange problems trying to install Mythbuntu on a new HTPC set up. I am usually pretty good with a bit of trouble shooting & have used Linux exclusivly since going cold turkey on Windows about 4 years ago. However this situation really has got me beat.

I am trying to install Mythbuntu from a CD onto my new hardware configuration.

I read somewhere that MythBuntu can also be used as a desktop environment on Ubuntu 11.10. But i can't find that website. Would "sudo apt-get install mythbuntu" work?

I just installed a fresh copy of 12.04 on my home desktop. Unfortunately, it looks like the MythBuntu Control Centre repo page is down (returns page not found):

Is there a way to install this? I am guessing this just automates the install of a PPA?

I have three Mythbuntu boxes running Mythbuntu 11.10, one of them has just lost its database and I want to do a restore and the menu is missing on all three.

Does anyone know why it is missing and why a really easy way of backing up and restoring (as well as scheduling backups) appears to have been removed?:confused:

Hi all,

This is my first post, so be gentle. I've been working on setting up a HTPC with mythbuntu. I just installed mythbuntu 12.04 with Mythtv 0.25.

My remote is a Vista MCE made by Ortek (I followed these instructions to get it functioning properly, and everything looks great. The only problem is that I can't seem to control the Xfce desktop with the remote.

Can anyone recommend an off the shelf Mythbuntu ready system? Or as close to off the shelf as possible?

What I've got in mind is something that: Runs very cool and quiet (lounge use. some atom based job?
