hi all..
I am kind of new to ubantu.
My wireless is hard-blocked by hardware switch and I want to unblock it using rfkill. Is there any other way to unblock a hard and soft block on the Wireless LAN?
rfkill list
0: hp-wifi: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: yes
1: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: yes
This is stopping to use my wireless. How do I undo a hardware switch?
I disabled bluetooth from bluetooth tray menu (unity), then bluetooth was disabled, and wireless disabled too. I can't enable bluetooth and wireless again. It said:
bluetooth is disabled by hardware switch
wireless is disabled by hardware switch
I checked BIOS, no bluetooth, wireless option.
FN+F2 doesn't work.
sudo rfkill unblock all doesn't work.
After upgrading to 11.04, I have found that I can not select "Enable Wireless" because "wireless is disabled by hardware switch". There is a hardware switch for the wireless but playing with that seems to do nothing.
lspci says I have an Atheros Communications Inc.
I am running Ubuntu 64 bit 12.04 3.2.0-37-generic. My wireless is not working.
rfkill list all
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: yes
1: hp-wifi: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no
I tried running rfkill unblock all.
~$ lspci | grep Network
06:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation WiMAX/WiFi Link 5150
~$ rfkill list all
0: hci0: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no
1: i2400m-usb:1-1.1:1.0: WiMAX
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no
2: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: yes
~$ sudo rfkill unblock all
But WiFi is still disabled.
Here is some info:
~$ sudo lshw -class network
I think I may have found the cause of my problems with connecting to wifi in Ubuntu 11.10.
I type this in Terminal:
peter@peter-AO531h:~$ rfkill list all
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: yes
1: acer-wireless: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no
peter@peter-AO531h:~$ rfkill unblock all
peter@peter-AO531h:~$
If I am correct I must unblock all of t
My Dell Mini 1018 used to work fine with Ubuntu 12.04 with no problems connecting with the wireless card. Then I made the big mistake of attempting to disable WiFi by right-clicking on the wireless applet and un-checking "Enable Wireless." Since then, I cannot get wireless working again.
I have my doubts that this is possible, but here's the story: I have a Lenovo S10-3 netbook with the proprietary wireless driver installed.
