Howdy 33 weeks 5 days ago Hello all. I am new to the crunchbang world. I have been using Linux Mint for sometime on my desktop, but I have had trouble finding a good distro for my somewhat archaic laptop. It is an old box, but has updated RAM and an SSD. But anyways I tried a lot and of the few that worked crunchbang was my favorite. And it is growing on me more and more.
Hello!I am new to Crunchbang, and wish I had used it sooner. It is definitely the distro for me. I've distro hopped for the past 3 years. I've used Ubuntu, Debian, zenwalk, PClinuxOS, and a slew of other distros.
A short while back, crunchbang was made available to users as an XFCE distro in addition to the openbox distro...And I LOVED the XFCE distro.... to me (and a few of my pals) it was theee best XFCE distro ever....
Hello ! I am gsynk. Just installed #! ....Just love the simplicity of this distro. No eye candy, pure core and raw linux , jst the way it should be..I am a Software Engineer by profession, working mostly with sql server and visual studio. My love for linux distros started way back in college., when I first ran Ubuntu on my pc.
In this piece I will show how the system usage differs among Live CD distributions running different Linux Windows Managers mainly on distros considered to be lightweight. The first distro we will look at is a bit dated, but it is the most recent Fluxbox edition of Linux Mint, Linux Mint 9 Fluxbox edition, and is a damn fine distro that I must say looks great and it’s fun to use.
Yesterday, I just posted an article about Ubuntu is still not profitable.
Not all distros are made equal, particularly if you're a KDE user. KDE has had something of a rough time over the last couple of years. The transition from version 3.5 to 4.x hasn't been easy, and over this period many distributions have decided to use either Gnome or stick with KDE 3.5 as their default desktop.
Hello everyone, I've been using crunchbang for a few months after going through many other distros and its my favorite linux distro. I am runnng it in my laptop, a Gateway NV53a.
There is no reason you can't run #! (or a variants) w/ 256MB - I am. You just don't want to run too many processes at onetime (i.e., run LO, FF/IW, BF, Synaptic at the same time) - but I find this true for any distro, even those lighter than #!.Openbox is not running that much memory - the heavy applications are. Just stay away from DE distros.Sheng-Chieh
