I have installed ubuntu on my laptop, but i am having problems with the hdmi port. It doesnt seem to exist.
I have a nvidia gt 415m graphic card and a core i5 which would point at a problem with optimus technology, so i tried to install the new nvidia driver 319, which should help with this problem.
Today I installed ubuntu 12.10 but I noticed some graphical glitches and I decided to install the appropriate graphic driver.
OK, I have a pretty specific Optimus/CUDA/drivers question:
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 on an Acer Aspire 5750G.
When I install the recommended drivers, even the latest from their ppa, on reboot, xwindows won't start, it just boots to a console login.
If I purge nvidia and reboot, it works with the builtin ubuntu drivers, even 3D, but system reports the experience as 'standard' using driver Gallium 0.4 on NV92 .
I would like to get nvidia drivers working to see if it performs better.
I've a laptop with an Nvidia optimus graphic card (GEForce GT 630m) with Ubuntu 12.04 installed. After a while of looking around, I found that the optimus controller for linus is bumblebee, so I installed it.
I would like to know whether is possible to perform GPU calculations using this driver, or Should I install the Nvidia driver?
If there is a BIOS option in the laptop from the OEM that enables you to switch cards from there (turn one off) then you can use the standard nvidia drivers.
Hello,
I am using a Sony VPCZ11X9E with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M and an Intel Graphics card.
My laptop used to have almost no BIOS options that made Fedora's job difficult and I had to use acpi_call.
Now that I flashed a new BIOS I am able to choose which card I want to use before the OS boots. Then the OS will "see" only the card I want and nothing else.
And so it happened.
Hy,
here is a pict of my problem
I've installed the 185 drivers using system->administration->hardware drivers menu
i get that's noise or sometimes just freeze of whole desktop till i restart the computer after 5-10minutes of using the laptop.
does your mac have Nvidia or Ati or Intel graphic card, if it is Nvidia install the nvidia drivers and run nvidia-utilities then edit and add the following under device Option "RegistryDwords" "EnableBrightnessControl=1" if not install pommed and nvidia-bl from AUR if that doesnt work then check the wiki for macs books and follow the instructions on compiling the special nvidia
