So like yeah. I fxz'd back to 905 stock unrooted and did the update.
Before I rooted I figured I would check the root checker in the stock recovery menu.
Guess what? It read "1/1"! For those of you that don't know, that's supposed to be this thing that alerts if the phone is or ever was rooted, and there's no known way to reset it.

So it seems NFC does not work when you are rooted. Google Wallet gives a message of "unsupported device" and the link it provides advises NFC is disabled for security reasons when a user roots their device.
With all this OTA talk, I've been getting many questions about accepting and OTA while stock rooted.
IF you are stock rooted, you can't get an OTA update because you most likely have a custom recovery installed (Clockworkmod).
To accept this OTA, you will need to install the STOCK recovery.
Hey guys, I know there are a few stock images floating around that can bring you back to stock, but I wanted to put down the steps I used to get back to stock with 0 flash counter.
Just in case you need to return it for warranty work and you've flashed or rooted.
Just used MetroNoob's stock back-up again to go to stock to finally figure out this stupid camera issue, but the damn phone just will not root.
I've rooted this back-up 3 times in the past month using the Linux files, but this time it's just not working. I've also tried the Windows version on Wincrap 7 but no luck.
Recently i just rooted my I9300 and i wanted to install Chainfire. I was on stock recovery so i could not have done any backup sadly.
I installed chainfire3d and it made the phone boot(normal). But then it made me stuck on the BOOT screen that says Samsung GALAXY SIII GT-I9300 with a little red "!" or "exclamation mark"
Do i have to flash stock and wipe?
I had been rooted, with TWRP recovery, and CM7, and Gapps.
Wanted to go back to stock. Brought up Kindle fire utility, downloaded stock update, transferred to fire via usb, used TWRP to flash stock update.
Vola, back to stock kindle fire. Re-rooted with Kindle fire utility, and then my mistake, I flashed the CM7 Gapps into stock kindle.
Got stuck on "touch me android screen".
