I have a ~35 GB file on a remote Linux Ubuntu server. Locally, I am running Windows XP, so I am connecting to the remote Linux server using SSH (specifically, I am using a Windows program called SSH Secure Shell Client version 3.3.2).
Although my broadband internet connection is quite good, my download of the large file often fails with a Connection Lost error message.
On my server(CentOS 6.2), I have installed CoovaChilli* software. Bellow, I will present what I need to do, and put my questions:
My LAN that is managed by server is 10.1.0.0. The Internet IP address of that server (the WAN) is 220.127.116.11. I want to make possible an Internet client, let's say with Internet IP address 18.104.22.168, to access the Internet like he is a client in my LAN(10.1.0.0).
I have a PPTP VPN setup at my office. I'm trying to connect to it from my house on Ubuntu 12.10 x64. I can successfully connect, however when I do, I can only access remote resources (devices on the VPN). I can't access the internet.
After some searching, I thought that if I checkded "Use this connection only for resources on its network" I would be set...that's not the case.
When I try to access a named instance of Microsoft SQL server 2008 R2 SP2 on the local network, I have no problem. But when access it outside office from the internet, I can not connect to the database server.
It send back the "famous" following error:
A network-related or instance-specific error occured while establishing a connection to SQL Server.
