My son is backpacking in Australia, working in a farm in the outback at the moment. No access to wi fi or a computer but he has a new S3 with 1gb data allowance a month and also a dropbox account linked to myself.
My question is, he wants to play music from dropbox on his phone but we are concerned he will be using his data allowance on his phone.
I ran a direct wget on the dropbox url for the 64 bit package, shows this:wget http://www.dropbox.com/download?plat=lnx.x86_64

I have two laptops, both running ubuntu 14.04 with gnome. Until a couple of weeks ago I was using dropbox on both. Now neither is able
to connect to the dropbox website - with either google-chrome or firefox. For a while I was able to continue to update my dropbox but this has now
ceased - perhaps because of my attempts to reinstall dropbox.
I posted this in the Desire Z forum but haven't had a response.
I can stream audio to my car stereo easily enough through USB. The trouble I'm having is my stereo only sees music in my sdcard\Android\data\com.dropbox.android\files\scra tch folder and not my sdcard\music folder. What is the problem? There is no .nomedia file on the sdcard root nor in the music folder.
When Dropbox bought Audiogalaxy late last year, industry observers wondered if the cloud music player startup could turn into a new audio streaming product. But Audiogalaxy was promptly shut down, and the team is rumored to be working on other Dropbox projects.
And so, a largish niche has emerged for apps that stream DRM-free music files for Dropbox users.
I'm planning to buy a Synology NAS to use as an always-on media server. I currently have all my photos and music in my Dropbox folder on two Macs, and would like to simply mirror them onto the NAS as well. I asked Dropbox support about this:
I realize you probably don't know the Synology software.
Today a new stable Dropbox release (1.0.10) arrived. Some nice features and tons of bug fixes were introduced. The update is fairly easy:1. Stop Dropbox (right click on systray icon)2. Rename your /username/.dropbox-dist directory for backup reasons3.
