I am a beginner on linux. Now, I use windows 7 64 bit and Fedora 17 32 bit. I have already install iwl2030-firmware and it works. but today not work (cannot find the wireless hardware) what should i do?
I just bought this laptop 3-4 days ago and it came with Windows 8 which I replaced within 10 minutes with a physical disk of Fedora 20 I picked up at this year's Texas Linux Fest in Austin, Texas. The only problem I have seen so far is the wireless network card not working PROPERLY. I have browsed many forums trying to find the same problem.
I have a used HP pavillon dv6. it works like new, but wireless does not work. I loaded f17. the connection icon showed wireless disabled. there is a touchable wireless which you could touch to enable wireless port. but I touched but only could change wireless from disabled to firmware missing. any idea?
I have 2 Fedora 18 x64 KDE spin installations on this laptop. The first install was done when F18 was released and gradually upgraded to latest as of today. The second install was done today and also fully updated. Now the mystery - on older install wireless works, but on newer it doesn't.
I have been attempting to get Fedora 11 installed on this laptop dual-boot with Windows 7, which is already installed and working. I have had F11 installed six or seven times so far and it will work, except for two problems.
I followed the instructions on the wireless sticky here. I only really got as far as the search for "firmware" in dmesg. I didn't find firmware in the file. Below is a screenshot of the hardware info for the USB nic.
i have a dell inspiron 1564 with this wireless adapter:
1. Dell DW1397 Broadcom 4312 Wireless BCM94312HMG

i used wired internet to finish the installation.
*edit* Thanks for the quick help. I just needed to install the firmware.Hi all, first post so let me know what critical info you need, as I'm new to linux as well.I have an Asus 1201N, which uses the realtek8192SE wireless card. Wired and wireless internet work perfectly in windows 7. I have problems with wireless, not wired, when running #!
