Is there any chance I can load binary codecs on 64bit arch linux ? I have few .dat files that works great under 32bit windows xp, with smplayer (after downloading codecs), but on 64bit Linux, I got twisted image.
I downloaded all binary codecs for win32 here,
And essential elf64 libs here
Both archive was extracted to /usr/lib/codecs
From output of strace, seems /usr/lib/codecs wasn't loaded.
i've installed the win32 codecs from medibuntu repository, and also downloaded the "essential 20071007" codecs from mplayer website and put them in /usr/lib/codecs but still i can't play rmvb files with kaffeine what can i do?
When I attempt to watch a video in mplayer with caca, the output (in xterm) seems to "blink" or "tear".
SMPlayer is a free open source media player, with built-in codecs, that can play virtually all video and audio formats. It doesn't need any external codecs. SMPlayer can also play, search and download Youtube™ videos. It uses the award-winning MPlayer as playback engine which is capable of playing almost all known video and audio formats.
MPlayer is a very common tool in the Linux world, it is usually used for watching videos or running audios. However, MPlayer has many more features and options.
Png output in mplayer package is broken, this is important for me, using mplayer-svn solved itAlso I am "working" on a 16 video tracks project in kdenlive and crashes a lot. With Archlinux i don't have problems. They are using mlt 0.7.8. I compiled 0.7.8 myself in chakra and works fine. Should be a safe upgrade.http://mltframework.blogspot.com.es/201 … eased.html

Hi #!-ers,I have two problems related with the video playback that may or may not be related.1. I've recently started to have problems with video playback on VLC and some other players I've tried (but not for sound, just video issues). The only one that seems to be ok is "GNOME MPlayer", that lets me play videos with sound.
Hi all!
I'm having problems with streaming divx videos in Firefox 3.6 on openSUSE 11.2.
Every time I try to load a divx video Firefox ends up freezing, ultimately leading to dialog box giving me the option to terminate Firefox.
