http://unix.stackexchange.com – If I have, say, 20 music videos (.flv and .mp4), is there a way to play them in mplayer (mplayer2) without having to change the volume for each video, instead specifying a desired general volume, and having mplayer adjusting automatically whenever necessary? (HowTos)

Hey guys I am having this weird problem regarding mplayer on fedora 12 I control the mplayer volume using config file .

the problem is as soon as i turn on mplayer it sets the system master volume to 100 % blasting my ears everytime and i have to manually turn it down everytime .

You can make MPlayer play h264-encoded video files a lot faster on multicore machines if you graft some libraries from the ffmpeg-mt project into the resulting mplayer binary. MPlayer is a very common tool in the Linux world, it is usually used for watching videos or running audios. However, MPlayer has many more features and options.

I like mplayer's big on-screen information when changing a video's volume or play position. In smplayer, this information gets displayed a lot smaller, albeit with more detail.

How can I get smplayer's on-screen information to be just like mplayer's?

Hello, I'm using Ubuntu (mini)12.04 or(lubuntu) with Lxde desktop

I need help getting gnome mplayer to play a video (it doesn't show a video) I have read that "lubuntu" has a bug with mplayer and to use mplayer2. So I downloaded mplayer2-build-106bf4525ac9ef7a1cf8f1f41664d3be72121e99.tar.bz2 then folowed the instructions from here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=10996224

Okay, so I've got a Blu-Ray disc. I've set up mplayer and the mount points and everything so when I type

mplayer -fs br:////mnt/blu/

it'll play the Blu-Ray back in Mplayer in fullscreen just fine, no stuttering or anything, selectable subtitles, etc. The only problem is it'll only play the first title on the Blu-Ray. This is a major problem.

Smplayer not working 42 weeks 6 days ago

I just installed smplayer and it's not working! I don't seem to recognise the reason, but it might be something in the lines of 'unrecognised mplayer version' or something. Although, mplayer works. from terminal i'm able to run mplayer and watch movies.

I have video files in .wmv Microsoft ASF format. mplayer (console version which shows a video window without any controls) will play these but VLC won't (only audio plays). Installed mplayer-gui, but it won't launch and complains about some LIBAV-something environment variable... ?
