I started ubuntu and my mouse isn't working. Even in log in screen. If I shake my mouse all the time while booting then my mouse will work.
I think the mouse peripheral hasn't been detected and that's why mouse isn't working.
So is there any way to fix this problem
OR
Can I refresh peripherals by using a command in Terminal ?
I just upgraded from 8.04 Ubuntu to 10.04. The mouse cursor works fine during login. As soon as the system switches to the desktop, the arrow cursor "image" disappears (remains working ..you just can't see it). The OS will also randomly shut down requiring a re boot.
I am looking for help with my mouse every time I turn on my laptop and log into ubuntu 11.10 mouse mouse is not on the screen except when i move my mouse over to the left on the icons there it is i log out and log back in the mouse is on the screen my laptop is a compaq presario v2000
My USB Mouse stopped working after recent update of Ubuntu 12.10, but my launchpad still works. I have also anoth, wired mouse, which still doesn't work
The Terminal command lsusb
shows that the Mouse is not recognized by the system.
Could you please suggest me how to find out the reason why it's not working any more?
Thanks
I run a HTPC which I recently upgraded 11.2 -> 11.3.
Most things work fine but I've got an oddity.
I am currently having a problem with a fresh new installation of Precise.
Slackware 12.x, xorg.conf, fvwm95, generic 3-button scrollmice, both known to be working. USB ports work for various other USB devices -- card readers, portable drives, etc.
I can't get behind my machine to disconnect my ps2 mouse (long story -- ps2 mouse was removed once, but USB mouse still didn't work), but I'd like to add a (wireless, if possible, but not necessary) USB mouse.
Another check: lxdm gets the mouse, starting e17 from there makes the mouse dissapear again...should make it an e17 issue, probablybut in slim no mouse either...

Hey guys, looking for some assistance. I just picked up a Rat 3 mouse and can't seem to get it working. Google proves to me that I'm not the only one, and the popular fix (listed below) doesn't seem to fix my issue. Apparently the issue has something to do with the mode button causing an issue. When I plug the mouse in, it will work fine for the first two minutes. Then it gets all screwy.
