http://askubuntu.com – I have a Server running on desktop, since my aunt that lives with me is taking classes for MS office it is currently booting XP, so i have setup sharing of all my drives so i can access my files but how can i auto mount those drives at boot and also with help of script? i need the script cause I'm often messing around on laptop and tend to loose connectivity so the scripts need to unmount and den remount, sort of like a referesh. I have no user id or pass setup on Windows and the drives NTFS permission is set to allow everyone. how do i achieve what i need? PS: i managed to create a script (HowTos)

Hello, I'm traying to setup a network with ubuntu server and ubuntu desktop. What i wana to acomplish:

Server: - File and print sharing - Autentication with Domain - Owncloud setup - homes directories in server (documents and mail, i think programs can be made equal for everyone)

I am looking to create a script for Windows Server 2008, that could be called from some sort of web interface that would create a temporary user for an employee to get remote desktop access.

I would prefer not to have everyone share a login and password and would prefer not to have logins for everyone on each server.

I have quite a complicated server setup that I am trying to achieve which is a bit over my head. There are many programs that need to be installed and several configurations that also need to be modified.

I am trying to create a script which can automate the downloading, unpacking, installling and configuring everything.

I have a software raid 10 with 6 x 2tb hard drives (raid 1 for /boot), ubuntu 10.04 is the os.

I had a raid controller failure that put 2 drives out of sync, crashed the system and initially the os didnt boot up and went into initramfs instead, saying that drives were busy but I eventually managed to bring the raid up by stopping and assembling the drives.

I am stuck!

I have access to an external server via SFTP.

I'm able to share my internal 2ndry NTFS drives (sdb1,2 and 3) on the network with Windows pc's now but even though Sambe read/write is enabled, Windows network pc's can only open files "read-only" and can't save files to the samba shared drives/folders.

I try to set permissions in Ubuntu via folder and/or file properties even logged in root via Nautilus but all the samba shared folders and files
