Motorola outted its first Intel powered smartphone today: the Razr i.

While Motorola may have unveiled the Droid RAZR M earlier today in the Big Apple, it may not be the last time we see an announcement for the new hardware. A new report suggests Google-owned Motorola will be bringing the Droid RAZR M to the UK with a new chipset and a fresh name.

  You knew it was only a matter of time before the rest of the world got a variant of the uber cool and Intel-powered Motorola RAZR i smartphone. Well the time has come as Motorola proudly announced the RAZR i MT788 that will operate on China Mobile’s wireless network.

Intel looks as if it’s finally getting its act together in the smartphone market. The chipmaker can now point to six phones that have launched this year with its Atom x86 Medfield chips inside, including — most recently — a partnership with Google-owned Motorola for a European handset, the Razr i.

The new partnership between Motorola and Intel has officially begun. Motorola and Intel unveiled the RAZR i this morning in London. As we reported earlier, it’s essentially the DROID RAZR M, but with one major difference. The i signifies Intel Inside and it sports Intel’s latest 2GHz processor. What will this 2GHz chip give us?

Earlier in the year, Motorola announced a partnership with Intel in which they would utilize their chips for select smartphones. We haven’t heard a peep until now. Motorola is sending out invites for an event in London on September 18th.

  Now that the new DROID RAZR members are out in the open, all eyes are pointed towards Motorola’s upcoming Intel-powered beast and thanks to the FCC, we may have our first clue of what the device may be.

As we reported a couple weeks ago, Motorola Mobility and Intel have an event coming up on September 18th in London when we expect a public announcement regarding Motorola’s first phone to use Intel’s Medfield chip. Use of Intel chips in Motorola phones was announced at the beginning of 2012. It is not clear what else Motorola and Intel may be planning to announce.

  Due to Motorola RAZR i’s Intel Atom CPU, Google’s Chrome browser for the device currently won’t work as you’ll be given the “Package file is invalid” prompt upon installation. I suppose that’s to be expected when Motorola brings in a new CPU into the game with the Intel Atom.
