Most powerful Intel Graphics chip for Linux laptop?

view story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I plan buying a laptop, and I decided that I won't be tolerating nVidia closed-sourceness anymore. I want a mobile GPU that will completely work with opensource drivers, even if it's going to be lower-specs. The obvious choice is Intel Graphics, so I wonder what chip should I look for that will allow for smooth desktop experience (probably OpenBox with some xfce elements), hardware video acceleration, and the occasional light gaming (ren'py games, NDS/GBA emulation, portal/dragon age/age of empires through Wine). I am interested in your stories with the community-made nVidia and ATI drivers (HowTos)
