Most enterprises won’t allow BYO iPad: Cisco CTO

The push by employees at all levels to integrated their tablet devices into their employers' IT environment has been well documented. Less widely reported have been the moves by big unified communications vendors, Cisco and Avaya, to counter this trend and maintain their grip on the enterprise unified communications market.

Cisco has unveiled a new enterprise collaboration platform, Cisco Quad, and a new 'prosumer video solution' designed to bring video to enterprise collaboration and unified communication systems via a new enterprise version of the Flip video device, and video editing and management facilities in the cloud.

The recent Cisco Partner Summit 2012 in San Diego presented me with a real head-scratcher when Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO) execs announced Unified Workspace but didn’t (wouldn’t? couldn’t?) explain what it was.
