I am setting up a test nagios box to learn a bit more about it at the request of my boss.
I installed Nagios 3.3.1 on an Ubuntu server 11.10 running in a VirtualBox. I also have connected to this virtual network a VBox running Server 2K8 with NSClient++ running on it.
Our office is using a multi-wan router as dhcp/router/firewall.
but now I want to put a pc with pfsense between that router and switch, so I can do more advanced firewall task like traffic monitor and content filtering.
after reading I found that pfsense can be a ip-less transparent firewall, so I just have to plug the cables to both NIC and done.
this solution looks easy and I dont have to chan
We have a PFSENSE installation with a few physical interfaces defined:
192.168.1.0/24 - LAN
192.168.2.0/24 - WIFI
192.168.3.0/24 - SERVERS
10.61.88.0/23 - New Requirement..... read on
The new requirement has been laid out by a supplier, they require access to their equipment, which is all attached to a DrayTek Router/Firewall.
I've been trying to figure out a complete working solution for IPSec VPN implementation on FreeBSD but with no luck till now.
I am very new to this technical world ! I have installed virtual-box on my pc and pfsense. When I ran the pfsense, it displays the DHCP and IP address (10.0.10.1).
Also I have installed windows server 2008 R2 and given a static IP address (10.0.10.5) and gateway address (10.0.10.1) but it is not connected.
I am getting ! sign on my network right bottom of screen.
Please help me.
In my network pfsense is the firewall and router for my entire network. It is the only machine with direct WAN access. All other machines are behind it (and connected through a switch).
I am thinking of using pfsense on my ubuntu server box. I'd virtualise pfsense with virtualbox, and have it route and firewall all traffic on and to my server and the rest of my lan.
However, I've heard that using pfsense on anything but a dedicated box poses a security risk. Why is this, and is this really an issue for a home network like mine?
AFAIK Ipv6 are unique over LAN and WAN
using this tutorial
http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Using_IPv6_on_2.1_with_a_Tunnel_Broker
my lan network has now ipv4 connection and ipv6
I would like to be able to access my lan machines by their ipv6
i'm confused with firewall rules which i need to set to be able to do that
For now lets say that for the 3 interface (WAN / LAN / IPV6TUNNEL)
i tell p
I have the following setup on pfSense 2.0.1 32 bit:
