My computer is a HP dv6 with 8gb ram, 500gb hdd and a amd radeon hd 6480 graphics card and dual core cpu. Now here is my problem:
When I try to run some programs such as gucvie and xbmc, the screen blinks on and off. I have tried using both the opensource & proprietary drivers for my graphics card. Running these programs in terminal displays no errors.
Any clues here?
When I had upgraded everything was ready on the screen om my computer and with my 12.04 ubuntu.
When I restarted my system, the graphics card was not detected. I was forced to start the computer in low graphics mode, and eventually I had a pink deskop with only my maps, and no other programs at all.
What do I do now?
I'm trying to setup dual 23'' dell ultrasharp monitors in 12.04 and have run into a few difficulties. I'm running a Radeon 7970 HD graphics card, and am using the latest catalyst at the moment.
I Belive i'm having an unusual dual monitor problem
First my specs!
Graphics card : Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Turks [Radeon HD 6670]
Screens - 24in AOC (Ubuntu in displays calls it a 23in) (cant easily get the model number)
17in Prestigio
The AOC is plugged in via the graphics card.
The Prestigio is plugged in via the integrated graphics
Ubunut Can not see the 17in
However , when
I've recently installed F17 on an old desktop machine, dual-booting with Windows XP. I have installed a new graphics card in the machine, a Nvidia GeForce FX 5500 series if I'm not mistaken, and the onboard drivers forced GNOME to fallback mode. I've got nothing against the fallback mode, but I'm worried that the drivers may not be able to cope with some of my more graphics-heavy programs.
Hey , I have ubuntu installed on my iMac model 8,1 and it randomly goes to sleep, sometimes when it gets out of sleep mode the screen goes light blue but you can still see the desktop apps and everything and it doesn't go back to normal untill I restart my computer. So my question is, is this because my graphics card isn't supperted.
Specs: Intel Core i7 Win7 32-bit nVidia GeForce GTX 560 23 inch monitor
I have Ubuntu dvd.... Boots fine....
Hi I really need help I can't determine if my graphics card is defect!
I have just set up Fedora 12 on a month old Lenovo Thinkpad with Integrated Intel Graphics and a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470.
I have NOT installed any third party drivers or any proprietary drivers.
Its a totally clean system (single boot, formated discs).
The Problem:
I am trying to install an ATI Radeon 4350 onto Ubuntu and am new to Linux in general. I got pissed off with windows one day and deleted that partition so I can't go there. I really like Ubuntu and have worked hard to get Skype and Wine and a few other programs working like I want but, I can't seem to get this new graphics card to work.
