So I have an Acer x163w widescreen monitor.
In monitor setting my Monitor is an unknown.
My resolution size is stuck at 1024x768 i believe.
I have tried manually to change the screen resolution and nothing.
I am running Ubuntu 12.10 on an Hp Pavillion m7360 Desktop.
Updating the NVidia drivers sends my machine into a storm and things just fall apart until I have to do fresh install.

I have just setup a dual monitor system with a 23 inch LED monitor and a 19 inch LCD monitor. The 23 inch one is connected through HDMI. The 19 inch one is connected to the analogue port of the same GPU (Nvidia Geforce 210).
In Ubuntu 12.10, after installing Nvidia drivers, the 23 inch monitor works fine but the 19 inch monitor got a very low resolution.

I face with a big problem , I bought a monitor that it supports at last 1280x960 resolution and i create an application on Ubuntu in 1280x1024 resolution,it takes time to finish it so in this case i should adjust and fit my screen on Ubuntu with this lower resolution,

Hi,
I'm using dual monitor on Ubuntu 12.10. Both monitor had same brand and type, the only difference is one using DVI cable and others using RGB. The DVI Monitor resolution are 1280x1024 and the other monitor are 1024x768. How I could change the resolution of my RGB monitor to be the same as DVI monitor.
Hi, I recently purchased a new widescreen monitor with a resolution of 1366x768. I've installed the latest NVidia beta driver, however it does not correctly detect the resolution of my monitor. I am running a twinview setup alongside another 1280x1024 LCD.
Just after the release I installed Lubuntu 12.04 on an old ThinkPad T43 with a 1024x768 resolution display.
This T43 is also often used in a dock connected to an old 19" Dell LCD monitor with 1280x1024 native resolution via a standard VGA-cable.
Every time the T43 was booted in the dock with the Dell monitor it has been necessary to manually change resolution using the auto setting.
Hello.
I have a Dell Latitude C840 with a nVidia GeForce4 440 Go card and the screen is reported to go to 1600x1200, 32 bpp on Wikipedia.
But im unable to choose that resolution in Slackware. last time i changed the resolution to a higher one i needed to edit the xorg.conf, and change the HorizSync setting to match the monitor.

Using Applications->System->Configuration->Configure X11 System (which brings up SaX2), I configured a 2nd monitor to have a resolution of LCD 1280 x 768 (WXGA) @ 60 Hz. The second monitor was also configured to be an extended desktop, not a clone.
