MSC Vertriebs announced an ARM-based Qseven module that appears to be the industry's first such device using Cortex-A9 cores. The MSC Q7-NT2 is built around a dual-core 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 290 processor, supports 1080p video, offers interfaces ranging from gigabit Ethernet to I2C, consumes only five Watts, and offers extended temperature support, says the company....
Toradex launched a pico-ITX carrier board for its Colibri modules, available with free schematics and compatible with Linux or Windows Embedded Compact 7. The Toradex Iris can support any Toradex Colibri module but is available with the Colibri T20 module pre-installed, making it one of the first Nvidia Tegra 2-based development boards, according to the company....
Strategic Test announced a SODIMM-sized computer-on-module (COM) based on Freescale's ARM Cortex A8-based i.MX535 system-on-chip. Clocked at 1GHz, the 2.66 x 1.2-inch TX53 offers extensive I/O, including Ethernet and dual USB 2.0 ports, plus an available & Strategic Development Kit 5& baseboard, and a Linux BSP, says the company....
Problem: I need to bring up the SJA 1000 CAN controller on the Colibri Evaluation Carrier Board v2.1 (with a Colibri T20 (NVidia Tegra) module inserted into it, which has an ARM CPU).
Research: On the Toradex website they write that subject chip is "connected to GMI bus" (which could be "General Memory Interface").
For those of you who think that dual-core is so last year then have I story for you. The video we have here shows the TI dual-core OMAP 5 application processor for mobile devices outpacing the quad-core Tegra 3 processor from Nvidia. For those that don’t know the OMAP 5 sports ARM’s new and improved Cortex-A15 CPU design.
Nvidia has outed its next-gen Tegra 4 mobile CPU at CES. As expected, the chip packs 72 GPU cores, offering a 6x bump on the Tegra 3′s graphics processing performance — to make the most of higher resolution displays — along with the first quad-core ARM Cortex-A15, to boost web browsing speed by 2.6x and deliver improved app performance.
Phytec announced what it claims is the first computer module based on the Texas Instruments OMAP4430 system-on-chip (SoC). The PhyCore-OMAP4430 clocks the SoC's dual ARM Cortex-A9 cores to 1GHz, measures 1.6 x 2.0 inches (41 x 51 mm), offers up to 1GB LPDDR2 RAM and 1GB NAND flash, provides Ethernet, USB, and I2C connectivity, and draws only three Watts....
NVIDIA’s Tegra 4 and Tegra 4i processors were demoed today at MWC in Barcelona. NVIDIA’s new processors have been said to be more efficient with battery life while simultaneously delivering supreme performance for future smartphones and tablets. The Tegra 4, based on ARM’s latest Cortex A-15 platform, was benchmarked at 4,166 using the Geekbench 2 benchmark.
It’s been a long time coming, but NVIDIA has finally unveiled its latest addition to its chipset family and “GeForce Experience” by introducing the world to the Tegra 4 processor.
