NM Incite, a social media analytics and research joint venture between Nielsen and McKinsey, just announced that it has acquired New York-based social TV startup SocialGuide.
SocialGuide’s tools supposedly capture social media data for more than 30,000 TV programs on 232 US TV channels in English and Spanish.
The global social TV market is already a multi-billion dollar industry, with TV giants betting big money on second screen viewing, but the market is set for double-digit growth in the the next five years, according to a report by market research firm MarketsandMarkets.
A study of business social media usage has found more than 70 percent spend at least 10 percent of their marketing budget on social media and that, rather than re-allocating funds from other marketing activities, they are now increasing their marketing budgets.
The Interactive Advertising Bureau just released its full-year report for 2012, showing that digital ad revenue set a new record of $36.6 billion, up 15 percent from 2011.
