I noticed that Fedora 12 made some odd design decisions for default GNOME settings, and I couldn't locate the System->Preferences->Windows menu item to change them back.
The design options I'm talking about:
I was surprised to find this when accessing the gdm login windows preferences manager. When i click on the general tab and tick the "Gtkrc file" check box I can access any directory on my system. Even folder with chmmod 000 set and mask:--- in setfacl!!!!
sir..........
I am new to linux . I have installed CORE FEDORA 10 in graphics mode and uses defaults installation. but it led me to a black screen asking.......
localhost login:root
password:amarjeet(my root password)
but after this it look like.
" incorrect login" every time i tried to login.
I need to add my user name to the sudoers list, then I wouldn't expect to need to do this again. Maybe I'm not doing it right. At the login screen my user name appears and an option to click to type in name. Clicking there and typing root into the user field then pressing enter promprs for password.

Hi Folks.
I have an odd problem since preupgrading from Fedora 12 to Fedora 14 (which otherwise worked quite well, FWIW).
Hello :)
I'd like to change keyboard shortcuts in gnome / fedora 12
[counterroot@dev-5c-v0 ~]$ cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.31.6-145.fc12.x86_64 (mockbuild@x86-7.fedora.phx.redhat.com) (gcc version 4.4.2 20091027 (Red Hat 4.4.2-7) (GCC) ) #1 SMP Sat Nov 21 15:57:45 EST 2009
at all this never has been a problem @ fedora 7/8/9/10/11
In trying out different distros, I've been using the same /home partition to keep my login the same. Was on Mint for a while. Just tried Fuduntu and not caring for it, I installed Xubuntu 12.04.
Problem is that when I go to login with my same old user name, it appears to accept my credentials and initiate the login.
