I have two DLNA servers, one that came built into my router (SSID_MediaMover) and the other is my server running minidlna (JBs DLNA server). The former shows up on a PS3 and the latter doesn't. The closest I can get to seeing a difference is by mounting them with djmount.
I have a machine that does everything, it's my router, WirelessAP(s), NAS, etc. and I've set up a DLNA server on it, but it's not being seen by any DLNA compliant devices (DLNA apps on Android Tablet or a WDTV Live).
I have installed minidlna on a Raspberrypi with an external hard drive.
Everything seems fine. Playstation 3 recognizes the DLNA service.
But when I try to find it with Amarok 2.5.0 on Linux Mint 13 Maya (Precise) there are no results.
Do I need any additional packages installed to activate DLNA client support on my Laptop?
I have been enjoying the minidlna server on my ubuntu box for a while now. It works very well with XBox and a cheap magnavox blue-ray player that I bought. Now I am wanting to start uploading media to my server but when I try my devices all come back with the error that uploading is not supported.
I install minidlna using synaptic pkg mgr. adjust minidlna.conf to scan correct folders and display server name to tv etc.
When I check gufw when minidlna is running, there is an ip address as shown as listening on a very high UDP port (changes with restarts). address is xxx.xxx.0.3 which is local net address block.
Hi all,
Just thought I would share my experiences with DLNA servers and write up a bit of a guide to get one working.
A DLNA server allows you to stream media from a computer to any DLNA enabled device such as a PS3, PVR device, modern TV etc. For me it was a lot easier than moving my content via a USB device.
I have a Samsung BD-e8500 PVR.
I've installed Minidlna and set up my minidlna.conf according to the wiki page, but my files still aren't showing up in my client (in this case a phone).When I start the minidlna daemon, this is what happens:chimeracoder ~ $ sudo /etc/rc.d/minidlna start
:: Starting minidlna [BUSY]
Media directory not accessible!
Using the minidlna application, you can turn any Linux machine into a DLNA server in a matter of minutes.
Since neither VLC stable / VLC nightly builds / Totem with Coherence Plugin work properly in oneiric I'm searching for an alternative to watch media streamed from my seagate dockstar using minidlna as a server.
The only client that works is XBMC, but that's much of an overkill and stops me from doing other tasks.
