Hi everyone,
I've installed Ubuntu 12.10 in my XPS 15 l521x. I had some issues (i.e. HidPoint is quite unstable for my Logitech wireless mouse/keyboard and works pretty randomly), but now the big one that is stopping me is that I'm unable to make my Mini Display-Port working.
I have a Mini DP to VGA (branded Apple) connected to an external monitor.
I have a brand new ASUS N76 with newly installed 12.10.
HDMI port is not recognized by Ubuntu while working perfectly well with Windows 8.
xrandr does not even show as known connector :
Output of xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 8192 x 8192
LVDS1 connected 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 382mm x 215mm
1920x1080 60.0*+ 59.9 4
I've searched for everything I can think of and see no one with this issue so far.
When I plug in my KVM using a DVI to DisplayPort adapter, the system does not detect the DisplayPort connection.
Been banging my head against this for a while. I can't get my external monitor working with the nouveau driver.
I'm running Fedora 17 on an Acer 8951G laptop.
After the latest updates to kernel 3.5 I can no longer use any external monitors.
Whenever I come to work I type
xrandr --auto
xrandr --output VGA1 --right-of LVDS1
This gets my second display working, however now I get
xrandr: cannot find crtc for output VGA1
For reference here is the output of xrandr,
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 3286 x 1080, maximum 8192 x 8192
LVDS1 connected 1366x768+1920+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 277mm x 156mm
1366x768
I have notebook with nvidia optimus technology. I have installed bumblebee and everything seems to work fine. Problem has appear when I connected second monitor to my notebook. If I connect monitor after login then it works well. When I'm trying to start notebook with connected monitor then Xserver is not able to start.
I frequently use my laptop with a dual monitor or projector, so I hope somebody can help me here. In alpha 1, I used to be able to control a second display with xrandr very easily. In alpha 2, something goes wrong. Whenever I activate the second display, using either xrandr at the command line, or grandr, I get an almost completely unresponsive system.
Today I was trying to connect my second monitor to my notebook.
