I have followed loads of tutorials, the launcher of Minecraft opens, but once i have logged in it presents me with a black screen. Does anyone have any ideas why this could be?
This is what I've done exactly.
I downloaded Minecraft for Linux from minecraft.net
I tried running the file using both OpenJDK Java 7 Runtime and Oracle Java 7 Runtime
The file opened fine both times and I logged in as so
Then the screen went black and stayed that way.
I don't know what to do?
So, I just booted up this computer. The hard drive is completely clean, and I just installed Ubuntu maybe an hour ago.
So, I download Minecraft.jar, set it to executable, and then run it with Java 6 Runtime, or something along those lines, and I can log in. After that, it goes completely black, nothing new.
Minecraft appears to launch with oracle java 7, but crashes after logon.
$ java -Xmx1024M -Xms512M -cp ./minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame

Wrote this installation-script some time ago, but updated it a lot today.
Download: Minecraft-installer
Download the installer, rightclick it and go to the permissions tab. Then make it executable.
I just downloaded a free version of minecraft and I also downloaded JDK 6 and 7/JRE 7. I can open minecraft perfectly and log in but after it installs updates, it stays at a black screen. I need to update my lwjgl files but there is no .bin folder in my minecraftSP.jar folder. Any tips?
That is what my minecraft folder contains.

Since downgrading to an older release of Ubuntu won't solve the problem for this version, I try to fix it this way. It is basically this guy's problem but with a little difference: Minecraft goes black on 12.04
Upgrading LWJGL does not work, as they are "already updated" in Minecraft 1.3. I think that other users of EEE901 have the same problem.
I installed Oracle Java 6 Update 39 and tried to run Minecraft.
