I have SharePoint 2007. When the database backups run using SQLCMD SharePoint sites go into read-only. Users can't add anything to the sites the buttons are grayed out. On the backend the databases do not get set to read-only. My question is this, is this normal with SharePoint? I have read some forums that say SharePoint does this by default but the information is a little murky.
Thanks
Bryan
I've got an issue where I keep getting
"Exception calling "UpdateListItems" with "2" argument(s): "Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown."
whenever I call $service.updatelistitems($listname, $xml). I've scoured the Net and see some people having similar issues.
My company isn't ready to migrate SP2007 to SP2010 yet (don't ask). But we need to get Office Web Apps working for some users. Is this at all possible without migrating the whole farm? e.g. can an SP2010 server share the database of the SP2007 farm?
We don't need all SharePoint functionality, just Office Web Apps.
Sharepoint is basically running SQL Server under teh hood as I understand it.
Is backing up sharepoint as simple as just backing up the underlying SQL Server databases?
Or do I also need some files from the filesystem in the backup?
With internally hosted Sharepoint, one has a few options for improving content availability to geographically distant branch offices:
Georeplication between Sharepoint farms
Content caching via a proxy or Branch Cache
WAN acceleration
What strategies are people using for Sharepoint hosted on Office 365?
Our SharePoint server has some issues connecting over to the MSSQL instance (different server ).
The error message is :Cannot generate SSPI context .(Microsoft SQL Server )-even when trying to connect from the Management Studio (over to Database Engine).
I saw this thread but I am not sure if I understand what people are suggesting to do or if it matches my situation? http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...ght=sharepoint
For work, much of documentation exists on Sharepoint in online spreadsheets, calendars and similar.
When trying to view Sharepoint Reports, Mac users get the error "An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode."
We tried both Safari and Firefox, and get the same error. On the Firefox end, I tried enabling NTLM Authentication, but that did not work. Can Sharepoint reports work on Mac?
A new domain user cannot access a Sharepoint intranet site - they keep getting prompted with a login box.
Their AD group memberships appear identical to other domain users so I figure this user must need setting up within Sharepoint itself. I added them under Site Settings -> People and Groups -> Team Site Members, however they still cannot login.
Can a Sharepoint guru please help me?
