http://serverfault.com – I'm experiencing very slow response from MSSMS and it causes other applications to slow down. Specially Skype crashes after few seconds from opening MSSMS, showing an error called "Disk I/O Error". I'm regularly using few applications (Sublime text, MS Word, Firefox, Outlook, Skype and one or two other apps) simultaneously. The system works fine when MSSMS is not in use! But as soon as MSSMS is opened, all the apps start to freeze (MSSMS also responds very slow). This problem has been there for about a week now (I haven't installed any apps or haven't made any changes to the system during that (HowTos)

Hi all, I am using kubuntu 9.10 on what is a fairly new machine But i am not able to use some applications properly

I used skype on gnome(on a much slower machine,if that matters) but on this its pretty slow the audio lags behind the corresponding actions etc so the call quality is also screwed up

Another one is xbmc(media center)

The primary symptom is that apps frequently freeze up, graying out. I've read that the gray is a visual signal from compiz for apps that have become unresponsive.

It happens so often that the machine is basically unusable. Every time I interact with an X app, e.g. Firefox and Software Center, they will freeze and go gray.

I'm running a Dell Inspiron 1564 with Windows7/Ubuntu dual booting.

I have 2 internet connections from 2 different ISP:

1- At home and its working fine for all browsers on ubutnu 10.04 and windows 7.

2- At work, there is a problem with the browsers on ubuntu.

Hi, i have a big problem:

Ubuntu Server 10.04 without reason slow down and freezes. When is it in freeze i can ping it, but with a big latency, but i can't connect ftp shh and can't load a webpages.

On this server i have installed wordpress and prestashop.

From apache2 error.log i see in the moment of th

new ubuntu user. after boot (boot is quite fast), opening applications such as firefox, libra, system settings, takes close to 10 seconds to open. after the application is loaded in RAM, the application opens fine.

the system feels snappy, quick. when i have two FIREFOX open, unity is snappy in showing me the two windows side by side.

Hi!If I use skype for video chat, it's working for a while, but after some time the whole system freeze. This happens if I try to set up my camera in skype moe than one time (for example after the time I open the preferences and video devices again).

Hi there,

I'm switching between Mint and Fedora and few days ago I did Fedora 17 clean install on my system. Everything was nice and easy to use except Gnome 3 UI, it is annoying resource hungry when more than 4 apps are opened at same time.

While I'm just browsing the internet, it's ok, but when I open filezilla, skype and one more app, all user interface becomes slower and lagging a bit.
