I use a MEDION AKOYA Laptop. With Ubuntu 12.10 and my Soundcard is ALC663 My problem is following: If I plug my earphones in the front pannel (3.5 mm) they are shown as Line In and I do not get any sound out of them. So my ubuntu thinks that my earphones are a microphone. The mean thing is, when I plug my microphone in it is also shown as Line In and it works well.
So I have this 7 year old laptop I bought in New Orleans a few months before the Hurricane Katrina disaster. My family and I stayed in the city during the hurricane and had to evacuate on foot from the flooded building we were staying in until we could reach the point where buses were being deployed. My wife was two months pregnant, and my two oldest children were ages 4 and almost 2 -
After a clean install of 12.10 I am again experiencing problems with the sound. Even after trying the module.options that worked in 10.10 I still have only sound on the headphones.
I have been able to trace the problem to pulseaudio by trying pavucontrol. When I mute and unmute sound (PULSE sound-indicator) I hear the sound briefly only when I unmute.
I know this has probably been done over a million times, but i am a newbie to Ubuntu all in general. Several days ago my XP crashed and decided to have my friend install Ubuntu. I am amazed at how smooth and convenient everything is....
I'm having problems with my Medion soud drivers and devices probably.
I have only sound when I plug in an external device such as stereo system through my stereo input, I've made a couple of changes according to my devices , and the only thing I know is that my sound card comes from Intel.
