My laptop has an HDMI output, two stereo headphone jacks, and internal speakers. Unfortunately, the internal speakers do not work, except at the login screen when my computer boots.
Hi there,
I am running Ubuntu 12.04 and this morning when I tried to use Skype the headphones didn't have sound. I tried my speakers and also no sound. However, the built in speakers of the laptop work. but cuit out once a jack is connected. It reckognises the headphones or the speakers, but no sound. And yes, the volume is up.
Any ideas.
Hello,
Im using opensuse 11.3 on Fujitsu Siemens Celsius H270. I have two possibilities, how to connect headphones and microphone
A. Connectors directly on notebook (in front part)
B.
The sound on my Fedora 17 install works perfectly trough the speakers of my laptop but when a connect a pair of headphones there is no sound what so ever. I've tried fidling with the sound settings but so far nothing has worked. This was not a problem on my previous Fedora 17 Alpha install.
When I plug my headphones, it does't work. When the headphones are not inserted, speakers of my netbook work. When I insert the headphones half way, sound comes from both the headphones and speakers at the same time.
Is this a sound card problem. If so, how can I fix that?

Hello, I am new to Fedora and a noob at Linux in general. Everything seems to work great so far on Linux except my audio jacks.
I am running Fedora 18 on a Dell Studio XPS 1647. There are two headphone jacks and a microphone jack which in Windows can be configured to be front, back and center speakers.
My Laptop (Dell Vostro 3300) internal speaker (yes, it's mono) is mute already for some time, and I was just patient with this problem, because the sound quality is ridiculous anyway and I always used either headphones or external speakers.
On latest version of ubuntu I have no problems getting sound through my laptop's internal speakers, but when I plug in earphones or external speakers it just acts like they're not there and continues using internal speakers.
What's goin down??
I was using Vista (briefly) with this laptop and didn't have this problem.
