http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I just set up a samba server on my F17 so I can share files with my Virt Machine running WinXP. I've set up a share foler (/home/samba) for samba to use rather than a partition. Now when I go to windows xp and try to map a drive letter, I type \\<myip>\MyFiles and it says that the network path could not be found. I'm very new to networking so I'm not quite sure which IP to use. I've tried all the ones that ifconfig gave me as well as trying to use my public IP that I got from google. My smb.conf looks like this (except for the USERNAME bit at the end): Code: [global] &nbsp (HowTos)

Hello everybody i hope some one could help me regarding samba.. i am running a FC13 acting as a samba server & an IP of 192.168.0.3.. I have already installed samba from the fedora core repo.. I can see my samba server on my winxp client.. but everytime i tried to access the samba share a windows message appears

I am trying to setup my opensue 11.3 server as a pdc using openldap and samba I am continuously getting a network path not found error message on my windows xp box. Hi guys

I want to kickout Linux box from my department so I have only Solaris for administration.

I am trying to set up Samba on Solaris 10u9 and I can not access folder which is being shared on LAN.

I think I configured my Samba fine, but I cant access the share from a Windows machine. The network is set as bridged in VB configuration and I can ping the Windows machine from CentOS. Also, I can ping it back from the Windows machine.

I am trying to configure samba to have 1 private share (with password promt) and 1 guest share without any password promt. My samba config is:

PLEASE : Quick question on RHEL 5 I recently installed as a VM machine (all up & running).

I want to mount a shared folder on linux so it can be accessed by Windows.

So I dl Samba from samba.org and installed (./configure, make, then make install)

I assume the install went well as I have a new folder called “samba” within /etc.

So I've been running an ubuntu server for about 6 months now (noob) and I set up a samba share which I used with windows 7 PC's. Once it was set up everything worked fine.

Now I have 2 windows 8 PC's and neither of them have my ubuntu server samba share showing up with network discovery. If I use the IP or hostname (\\ubunutu) the shares show up and work properly.

Assalam o Alaikum! After configuring and starting service of samba, when I access shared folder from windows XP it gives this error " Network Route was not found". My server IP 192.168.1.252, client is on same network.
