Hi,
I am trying to connect to a remote server using remote desktop client application.Actually, the remote server is a server edition.I need to fetch it as gui enabled. So i have installed ubuntu-desktop using sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop.
I can able to connect to the server via putty SSH client. But i cant access the server as GUI enabled in remote desktop client.
What shall I do now???
I wish to connect my machine to a server in some other city.
I used to have Ubuntu Server 12.10, and I used to connect to it with my Windows PC using SSH. All I had to do was turn my server computer on and next thing I could do was run my PuTTY and connect to it.
I have researched this for a few days now and am about to throw in the towel. Maybe you can help. Thank you in advance.
I have installed Ubuntu Desktop 12.04 (32 bit) and Samba and have a simple file server running that I would like to be able to control remotely from a Windows machine. But I want to be able to control it by a graphical interface - not by terminal.
today i have installed ubuntu server 9.04 in my company server.
after installation i found out that it is command line..
so i have installed desktop
using this command.
sudo apt-get install ubunt-desktop
it was successfully installed even after installation i was in the same GUI
so i started GUI
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start
I've been reading a lot, but got to no conclusion yet.
In the client PC, I installed remmina.
On the notebook I want to access remotely what server should I install?
This remote notebook is running ubuntu 10.04 still, and I want to view the same desktop as the local user is viewing, in order to solve problems she's facing.
The connection must be secure, using ssh tunnel or other method.
I have a server (Win 2008) and a desktop PC (Win 7) at my work behind a firewall.
