http://serverfault.com – I do not know anything about this DNS stuff. I don't even know if this should be on stackoverflow or serverfault but anyways... I have a site at example.com whose IP is 1.2.3.4, I have subdomain at sub.example.com whose IP address is also 1.2.3.4. This site is registered at GoDaddy. I am assuming that my site is on a virtual host since http://1.2.3.4 shows me a different page than my homepage at http://example.com, and I am on shared hosting The server is running Apache 2.2 Now I have another domain (my-other-domain.com) which is not registered with GoDaddy and somebody else is managing i (HowTos)

When I paste my CSR into the GoDaddy console, it says "Domain name empty, can't retrieve subdomain." - Should I continue on with the steps 3 & 4 on that instruction page? I got the impression they were optional.

I know this kind of questions been asked here many times and I read through every single one of them and still do not understand how to do this at all.

I basically have a VPS server with a hosting account that has 1 dedicated IP.

I read through some guides on this and I believe it is possible to have apache respond to a subdomain through ssl. I have domain.com responding on 80 and I do not need domain.com responding on 443.

incase you didn't know, godaddy has just been hit by some idiot hacker that has caused millions (including my own) sites to go down. This leads me to my question... I was using the godaddy nameservers (NS12.DOMAINCONTROL and NS13.DOMAINCONTROL.COM) for my domain... If I had only registered my domain with godaddy but used different nameservers, then would my site not have been effected?.. i.e.

I need to use a domain name that I own but it is registered with yahoo.com. I need to know if I just point the domain to my godaddy dedicated server, will that give me the same effect as transferring the domain over for search engine optimization? Will the site traffic, identification, and location have the same effects on Google, Yahoo and MSN results?

I have register a domain in some domain provider, and now I rent a CentOS Dedicated Server on Godaddy. I never choose a panel when I buy the server. And now how to get DNS and configure domain with SSH? I use Putty for SSH link.

The Online Help suggustion I bought a Parallels Plesk Panel. I am not willing pay more money for a extra panel which may be just set a domain...
